Biography of Dominique Mulhem
Dominique Mulhem is a French artist who lives and works in Paris. It is impossible to limit him to one style or one technique. Rather, he could be defined by his philosophy and the freedom that ensues: Mulhem is a pirate, a hacker of art, his creation goes through a phase of appropriation. He takes over a subject, an icon, a painting, a historical scene… he talks to us about what we may already know, but with his artistic language and the mischievousness of an anarchistic kid.
He has made copy and paste one of his signatures, thumbing his nose in passing at everything that contributes to hindering the sharing society. He is a bit like Gavroche, of whom Victor Hugo said, despite his antics: “As long as a man is a child, God wants him to be innocent”.
Techniques
Dominique Mulhem masters hyper-realistic painting and the “vintage” but still surprising technique of lenticular holography, which offers multiple views of the same image in a single object. The 3D effect, which is difficult to reproduce in photos, is visually astounding.
The gallery's
opinion
A painting, a panel or a lenticular holography by Dominique Mulhem is a strong presence in an interior and the choice of a Pop Art touch, whose movement has influenced him a lot.
