James Cochran is an Australian painter and street artist who lives and works in London. Initially a graffiti artist, he quickly played a key role in the development of the underground graffiti movement in Australia in the early 1990s. He holds a Masters degree from Les Beaux Arts of the University of South Australia, where he demonstrated a deep interest in realism, figurative art and… oil paints.
His paintings and frescos (some of them are monumental) deal with various subjects: cityscapes, poetic scenes, portraits…
His achievements in graffiti and oil painting have converged and led him to develop his signature pointillist aerosol style, a unique and clearly identifiable style: he can be recognized by his colour palette and his technique, inspired by drip painting, which consists in layering several drops of aerosol paint on a vertical surface and letting them flow.
The result can evoke the French impressionists of the 19th century.
Adding a James Cochran painting to one ‘s collection is far from commonplace: a confirmed street artist recognized by his peers, he is described by the street artist C215 as “the master of pointillism in graffiti”. He is regularly invited to participate to street art festivals in France and abroad. We love his sensitive and positive universe.
