“Awakening”, drop of art and contemporary macro photography.

Water is an inexhaustible source of creativity in the art of Muriel Despiau. Each drop, each moment, each light and each support makes it a unique and singular artistic subject. The emphasis on the infinitely small, the happy accident created between all the elements, offer a creation often on the border of abstraction and figuration, full of mystery and beauty.

Although Muriel Despiau’s work is usually figurative, “Awakening” is more of an abstract image. The meeting of water and light produces an ethereal, almost spiritual result. Some people also see flames. The choice of a black and white treatment adds to the mystery of this amazing image.

It seems essential to us to remember that Muriel Despiau does all of her photographic work on location and does not retouch her photos.
