Rachel Yvonne Ursula Noëlle - Bathers “Cardoon” an unusual fish.
“Cardoon” is a contemporary painting from the Fish series by Cécile Colombo.
Fish are one of the subjects of Cécile Colombo’s work. In the same way that she decorates the swimming costumes of her bathers with multiple colours and patterns, the artist deploys a wealth of imagination to decorate the bodies of her fish: collage, graphics, fanciful treatment, all contribute to making each fish unique.
In this painting, Cécile Colombo has chosen shades of shadow and earth tones that give the picture a rather natural general tone. However, if you look closely, her usual fantasy is present: the large central fish swims in a bath with metallic reflections, and in several places you can see unusual collages of labels and small flowery motifs.
A particularity of Cécile Colombo’s large fish paintings like “Cardoon” is that you can choose whether they are hung horizontally or vertically.
