“Die Markte (Serigraphy 66/100)” is a limited edition silkscreen by English street artist Guy Denning.

The original work used for this silkscreen is a small charcoal drawing on newsprint. Denning is particularly fond of simple materials such as newspaper or cardboard for the realization of his drawings or for the preparation of paintings or frescoes that he will realize later. It should be noted that the vast majority of Guy Denning’s drawings, paintings or street art murals are portraits. His work on faces touches the spectator, so much the expressions and the emotions which emerge from it contain force.

In order to personalize each of the 100 copies published, the artist has enhanced them in turn. Reworked with charcoal and chalk, they are numbered and signed.

The interpretation of this portrait differs from one person to another. Indeed, this young face, with its open mouth and closed eyes, seems to betray a strong emotion. Thus for some it is a cry of suffering, for others a song, for others still an ecstasy of love. It is interesting to note that everyone projects a little of themselves into it.
