This painting on natural linen canvas is a study for a project that began in Lisbon in 2016. Initiated by an urban art gallery, GAU, “Rostos de Muro Azul” (The Faces of the Blue Wall) stretches for more than a kilometre, it is one of the largest street art walls in the world and is growing year after year. The project was launched in 2012, on the occasion of the World Mental Health Day, on the wall of the psychiatric hospital Julio de Matos, with the harmonic constraint of painting a face on a blue background. You will find many photos of this open-air museum on the net, but we offer you to see Jimmy C’s work live.
With his always positive and luminous look, James Cochran stands out in this accumulation of faces which often stick to the heaviness of this place of confinement, by proposing a luminous, poetic and hopeful scene.Discover the artist
