“Embracing pandas ” The two of us””, such a lovely couple.
“Embracing pandas “The two of us”” is a ceramic work by the contemporary artist Bennie.
Raku is a ceramic firing technique developed in 16th century Japan. The meaning of the ideogram for raku-yaki emphasises the serendipity of the firing process. The glazed sculptures were fired at 950 degrees, and the thermal shock produced the cracks in a completely random way. The object is then smoked, which blackens and enhances these accidents.
Animal sculptures dominate Bennie’s various artistic projects: bears, pandas, dogs and birds make up an endearing bestiary. The artist addresses the child in us. Through the prism of artistic creation, the animal is a reassuring and friendly being, all round, soft to the touch. It calls for a caress and sympathy.
If there is one animal that everyone agrees on, it is the panda: its round body, its small ears and its smoky eyes make it immediately appealing. Revered in China, it carries many positive symbols.
A subject full of gentleness that is particularly well suited to the raku technique. We are completely in love with this panda couple !
The “Embracing pandas “The two of us””, to be given as a gift or as a present, will bring a touch of softness to your home.
