“Filles en bleu” (uk : Girls in Blue) is a painting from the series of Bathers.

Cécile Colombo‘s bathers elicit all sorts of reactions from visitors to our gallery. The most frequent ones are a mixture of smiles and benevolent tenderness.

The artist is particularly attentive to the creation of motifs that tell us about the joyful and positive fashion of the 1970s: bright colours, flowers, fruits and geometric patterns, flowery bathing caps…

It is also her own story that she tells us, when as a child in Marseille she accompanied her aunts to the beach. “Filles en bleu (uk)” is a painting full of happy nostalgia and affectionate memories.

The large format of this painting lends itself particularly to the subject. The bodies generously spill out of the picture, we love it!
