opinion
“Martine Carole Yvette – bathers” is a painting by the contemporary painter Cécile Colombo.
In her series of paintings of Bathers she presents women at the water’s edge, generous in form and well in their skin. In our art shop the reactions of the passers-by are unanimous. Benevolence and smile. The artist mixes different techniques in her paintings. Collage, ink, acrylic paint and watercolour give life to the work. Cécile Colombo is particularly inventive in creating motifs that recall the positive and joyful fashion of the 1970s. Coloured palettes, fruit drawings, geometric patterns, flowered bathing caps…
The small format makes you want to put them together in two or three paintings. Bodies of these curvaceous women stand out from the frame, we love them, we want them all!
The artist also tells her own story in this series of paintings, when as a child in Marseille she accompanied her aunts to the beach. “Martine Carole Yvette – bathers” is a painting that overflows with nostalgia and happy memories.
