“New York – 5” is a work on paper in Indian ink by Duytter. The city of New York and its energy have always inspired artists and seduced collectors.

The composition, the framing, the light, the banality of an urban scene taken “on the spot” and fixed for eternity, everything in Duytter’s washes is reminiscent of the photographic aesthetic.

Observe the perspectives, the mix of architectures, the crowd of walkers on the right pavement.

And yet, if you look closely, each line remains in the rough, far from photographic precision.

It is precisely this duality that makes Duytter’s paintings so charming, like “New York – 5”.
