“Square plots – Fourth letter” is a square painting on paper by the artist M.Cohen.

In a work that is both aesthetic and poetic, the artist places papers of various origins in close proximity to each other: newspapers, old pages, bills, scribbles, writings, strong or incomprehensible signs. Improbable encounters are then born, after a few battles, cuttings, superimpositions, where the paper is roughed up and sometimes rolled, then glued. The fragile material thus transformed, already saturated with information, is for the artist a new beginning.

By underlining, adding signs, colours, crossing out, deleting, obscuring… she aspires to create a new object that offers to see and to dream.

With “Square plots – Fourth letter” the viewer is invited to go beyond the profusion of signs and to question what is given to the eye and what is refused, thus participating in the pugnacious and ardent quest for mystery.
