Alpilles 	“Vendome Pavilion” more neat than a French garden, the “foot map” of the Pavillon de Vendôme in Aix-en-Provence, a unique work for a unique place…
“Vendome Pavilion” is a drawing by Amandine Maria.
The Pavillon de Vendôme, in Aix-en-Provence, is a folly built in 1667 by Louis de Mercœur, duke of Vendôme, to house his passionate loves with Lucrèce de Forbin Solliès, known as “la Belle du Canet”. This magnificent mansion faces a sumptuous French garden, a pleasant place to stroll in all seasons.
Amandine Maria’s drawing, poetic and very meticulous, integrates handwritten annotations that immerse us in the atmosphere of the place and remind us of the geographical function of the map, for example the reference to the nearby Beaux-Arts.
“Vendome Pavilion” can be admired from all directions, and the back has 4 hooks so you can adopt 4 different points of view. Unless you prefer to turn your head to capture every little detail of the work…
